Staff Pick: Apple Music
April 20, 2020
Who doesn’t love listening to music? Music is something that can lift our spirits and connects us together through the rhythms. When I was a little girl, I would always make my Mom put on our culture’s Arabic music on and “perform” whenever we had visitors. No matter the language or genre, music has always found it’s way to my soul.
Throughout the years, music has evolved and the way we access music has changed. Before we had our iPhones and YouTube, people listened to music through record players, cassette tapes and CD’s. Although it’s indeed easier to search up a song and hit play, we forget that we are not valuing the artist behind the song because we are not paying for the sound. When the revolutionary iPod came out, many were illegally downloading songs from the internet to the device. Because of this, the iTunes store was born. The iTunes store charges about a dollar per song and completely changed the way people listen to music forever. Implementing the idea of an iPod within the iPhone was a complete game changer, people could now have a device where you can both make calls and listen to music on. That leads me to one of the most used applications for music today, Apple Music. Apple Music is used amongst iPhone users and is a monthly subscription. Apple Music gives you access to the whole iTunes store. It makes it easier to listen to music offline, you can search up songs just by the lyrics, it’s ad-free and is cheaper than paying for each song individually. Not only can you listen to music on this application, you can watch music videos or concerts, follow your favorite artists, listen to the radio or podcasts and create playlists that you can share with friends. Apple Music costs $9.99 per month, or $14.99 per month for a family subscription for up to six people. However, college students can subscribe for only $4.99 per month.
Apple Music is one of the few investments that is totally worth it. With over sixty million songs available and it’s practical usage, it makes listening to music enjoyable and simple. You can can start your 3-month free trial and cancel anytime at https://www.apple.com/apple-music/!
