25300-order-yours-today-yearbook_cYearbook is the most important book edition published by the school, where it shows the schools clubs, sports, activities and more. Most students in high school wait until the last minute to buy it or wait until their senior year to purchase it due to the fact that they’re costly. But the $85 is totally worth it. The real question is why should students buy the yearbook every year?

Purchasing the Yearbook  is important because it not only has the greatest memories but provides an autograph section that lets your friends share wonderful messages that you can forever take with you. Great pictures are shared throughout the book as well.  Everything that goes on at Westside finds its way in the book. Great memories are saved in a once in a lifetime book.

What part of the yearbook do you anticipate most?

Howler News took to the halls of Westside, to interview and ask what would make them purchase a yearbook? One of  the many students interviewed was Maria Paula Toro (12), she told us, ” I would honestly love to have every yearbook because once I graduate I would love to remember my friends and see who’s still going to be around in the future.”

Meanwhile interviewing students, several wondered  who was in charge of yearbook and how might they be able to join the class. This year, Ms. Sharon Roberts is the teacher in charge of the student media, her room is located in E244 and is free every day during lunch to answer any questions if anyone is interested on purchasing a yearbook or in joining the class next school year!

Ms. Roberts took the time to answer a few of the frequently asked questions:

HN:  “How do I buy a yearbook?”

SR:  “Two ways.  Go online to www.smart-pay.com and purchase a book with a debit or credit card.  The price is $85.  Or you can come by E244  during any lunch to pre-order with cash.”

HN: “Can I get an old book?”

SR:  “Yes!  We have books from every year, all the way back to 2001.  Last year’s book is $65, while any book previous to that is $50.”

HN:  “What about 2014?”

SR:  “Yep, but very very few.”

HN:  “Is it possible to be added to the staff?”

SR:  “For this year?”

HN:  “Yes, this year.”

SR:  “Or staff is full for this year.  However, we are always looking for students who are interested in contributing in the book.  This year our theme is ‘Unified’.  So the more Westside students involved in the process, the better the book will be.  We’ve added ImageShare this year.  Its an app, you can download on your phone, so you can send us your personal photos.  Again adding more involvement in creating the book.”

HN:  “That sounds cool!”

Yearbook distribution is always a highlight.  According to staff members the book will come out the first week in May, with a very limited number to sell.  So pre-order, and don’t get left out.  Left out of buying one, that is, because the goal is to get everyone in!
