Due to the pandemic, last year’s Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) Competition was canceled, but it is back and running this year. HOSA students from Westside will participate in rigorous health care events that display their knowledge and creativity. Students will participate in individual or group events. The Area Competition will be held on January 14th at Robert Turner College & Career High School ( 4717 Bailey Rd, Pearland, TX 77584) starting at 1:45 pm with the opening ceremony. For certain events, a second-round is needed; Round 2 of competitions will be held on January 15th at the same location as the day before, beginning at 7:15 am.

Back in December, HOSA students had online testing for some of the events, and if they passed, they would continue onto Area Competition. Other competitive events did not require testing, so those members will be jumping right into competition. After all events are concluded, there will be a closing ceremony on January 15th at the First Baptist Church ( 3005 Pearland Parkway, Pearland, TX 77581) starting at 2 pm for those who wish to attend. The closing ceremony will announce what teams will advance to state.
