Every dance team has a different interpretation of competition season. For some, it’s about the trophies, consisting of an entire year dedicated to winning. For others, it’s about receiving the accolade. For Inertia Dance Company, it is a combination of tradition, dedication, and overall experience—with an accommodation of shiny trophies and plaques.

Every Inertian knows that competition season is near when the practices become longer and the bond becomes stronger. Inertia learned a total of four team dances (jazz, contemporary, hip-hop, and open), along with two ensembles. Inertia 2 learned four team dances; Mr. Paule’s I2 team competed in the hip-hop and open category while Ms. A’s competed in the contemporary and jazz category.

Three competitions later, Inertia ends their competition season with the Crowd Pleasers Senior Texas Showcase at Cy-Ranch High School. Although it was expected to be their hardest competition, Inertia and Inertia 2 comes home with two Grand Champion titles: Grand Champion on Coed Team and JV Team. In addition, they also received the following…

Competition Results:

1st Runner up Small Ensemble

2nd Runner up Medium Ensemble

JV State Champs in the Contemporary, Jazz, Hip Hop, and Open Categories

Coed State Champs in the Contemporary, Jazz, Hip Hop, and Open Categories

Inertia Dance Company also took notable judges awards such as the Crowd Pleasers Award for their Hip Hop, Open, and Jazz routines. Inertia did what they do best and entertained the crowd. Mr. Paule, the director of Inertia Dance Company stated, “Competition season stresses me out because I’m competitive, but it is rewarding to see my kids shine on the competition floor.”

Competition season may be over, but the Inertia Concert is just around the corner. Catch the Inertians at “Pardon the Interruption” April 19th – 21st in the Westside Mini Theater!
