Boy’s Varsity Soccer Preseason

Boys Varsity Soccer Preseason

Jasmine Guzman, Writer

The soccer season has started, and the boys are back on a roll to represent the Westside Wolves! So far, the boy’s varsity soccer team has only played preseason games throughout December and January. They have demonstrated a great start in preparation for the upcoming district games. The boy’s varsity soccer team and Coach Ospina have kept the record of four wins against Sam Houston, Wisdom, Sharpstown, and Aldine. One game resulted in a tie against Jersey Village, state finalists the previous year, and two defeats against Cy Creek and Cy Ranch.

The preseason games have provided the team an evaluation of how they have performed, and it develops the talent for the forthcoming regular season. They have shown an outstanding performance through their determination, communication, and encouragement. Individuals such as Charlie Mata with two goals, Mario Arana blocking three penalties, and Luis Cortaz with three assists have shown all three qualities.

The preseason has prepared the team for district games to achieve the next goal of coming first place and continuing into playoffs. The boy’s varsity soccer team’s first district game will be at Delmar on January 26 at 5 pm. Let’s support the boys in their season!
