Destinations – On the Road

Seniors, we'll see you on June 5th. Then your virtual graduation will begin on June 14th. Then you are done. Time to hit the road.

The check out for the Class of 2020 is almost complete.  Honors have been announced, cap & gowns have been distributed and computers have been turned in.  No need to rehash the lack of a prom night or live graduation. Instead its time to look ahead.

On June 5th, the Senior Graduation live event will be held on the WHS football field, 7:00 pm.  Seniors will begin check in at 5:30.  Seniors are expected to wear cap & gowns, and all medals, stoles and honor cords you’ve earned during your WHS career.  Breaking with tradition, seniors are allowed and encouraged to make it an informal affair. Shorts under your robes are a great idea, because it will be hot.  You will be standing on the football field, so wear shoes that make sense.  During the last senior meeting, Ms. Stewart made it public that, for the first time, you will be allowed to decorate your caps!!!!!! Be creative, and at the same time be respectful and appropriate.  Don’t make your grandma blush or your dean eye roll.

Everyone is required to wear a face covering or mask.  Social distancing will be enforced. Legacy Studios will be set up in front of a special banner to take individual portraits.  Teachers and staff are invited to attend. Unfortunately, parents and family will not be permitted to attend.  This was a requirement put in place by HISD.   Westside will have drone photography in action.

The virtual graduation will begin airing on June 14th.  All senior Yearbook portraits were uploaded to your slide.  If you didn’t take a portrait, you can send a graduation themed photo to Ms. Roberts [email protected]

Your deadlines for submitting your photo & your personal message to your graduation slide are soon.
