Wednesday, March 23rd was declared “Go Red” day at Westside. Students and staff were encouraged to wear their red in a show of support for the Bellaire community.
Leading off the afternoon faculty meeting, Principal Stewart informed the staff present that she had been in contact with Bellaire principal Michael McDonough, had that he was very touched and moved that his former campus had participated in such a way.
As has been reported, on the Sunday afternoon, returning from a spring break trip, a tragic car crash took the lives of Bellaire graduates Brittanie Johnson and Brianna Robinson, and sister Jade Robinson, who was set to graduate this May. They died when the driver of their car, 18-year-old Shelby Coleman, lost control, distracted by the GPS on her cellphone according to investigators. Coleman, the only survivor of the crash, remains in critical condition in a hospital.
On behalf of the entire Westside community, we on the Howler News staff would like to extend our support to the students, staff and parents of Bellaire High School. And on this very special day we would like to say GO CARDS!!!!!!
