Senior 411
Part 1 of this article covers information about senior meetings, dues, and fundraisers.
Three full years of high school, and finally, we embark on the year most looked forward to by every high school student: senior year. The last year of high school, in which goodbyes are inevitable, and senior information is vital. With everything that goes on senior year, it can be difficult to keep up at times. From senior dues to yearbooks to exclusive events for seniors, it can be a lot to remember. Here’s some information to get you started on what to look forward to this year.
There are two senior meetings in the school year, one in October and one in January. The first meeting, called the Fall Assembly, takes place on Wednesday, October 24th at 12:00 pm, and it will be in the Westside Auditorium. Jeffrey D’Onofrio, the Senior Class Coordinator, provided lots of information about this assembly and other senior events and emphasized that it is “very important that you bring your laptop for the fall assembly,” since students will be voting for a Prom theme and t-shirt designs. Also, at this assembly, students will obtain more information about senior activities, dues, and fundraisers.
As for the senior class fall fundraiser, students will have the opportunity to sell foods and desserts and will have the chance to win free senior merchandise and Prom tickets. It will begin on Wednesday, October 24th, the day of the Fall Assembly, and the order forms and money will be collected during lunch on Wednesday, November 7th and Thursday, November 8th.
Senior dues are mandatory for every senior and require a one-time payment of $140 if paid by November 15th, or $100 if the student is on free or reduced lunch. If the student does not pay by that date, then the price changes to $160, or $140 for students on free or reduced lunch, due by December 20th. If students do not pay by December 20th, then the price increases for the final time to $200; no discounts for students with free or reduced lunch. Those $200 are due January 7th, and all payments throughout the year can be submitted to Mrs. Turner or Mrs. Mulcahy in Room A205. Mr. D’Onofrio informed that, “Students can also pay online via School Pay.” http://tinyurl.com/whs2019dues
The Spring Assembly will take place on Wednesday, January 16th from 2:30 to 4:00, which is during 7th period, in the Westside Auditorium. At this meeting, students will go through spring procedures, receive information about graduation packages, submit cap and gown measurements, and get an updated Senior Countdown.
If you have any other questions, there are announcements on the bulletin boards in the South 2 hall regarding senior information. You can also email Mr. D’Onofrio at [email protected]. Also, to keep in touch with any updated senior information, be sure to sign up for the Remind App with the code @49cfh8.
Part 2 will contain information about senior events, yearbooks, senior portraits, and other vital senior information, so be sure to stick around for that!
