Charlotte Rose’ Road to Rio: Update
Fort Lauderdale – Atlantic Ocean.
Of 35 Radials, Charlotte Rose finished 9th among the top international competitors– full time Olympic campaigners and youth alike! Charlotte even beat the world number one ranked in this class twice .!! (Evi Van Acker from Belgium)
She finished the 2nd US Woman. Charlotte finished amoung the other competitors that are full time Olympic campaigners.
After a tough first race in Saturday in light and shifty conditions Charlotte picked up the wind shifts well winning in the second race. Sunday saw opposite conditions to Saturday, with winds from the shore gusting up to 40mph with an interesting swell go against the breeze. Three races were sailed on Sunday in these conditions. Certainly conditions that test any sailor on any boat.
Monday saw more stable conditions although wind was still shifting and velocity eventually dropping allowing Charlotte to close out a very successful regatta.
Charlotte is now qualified for the ISAF World Cup, which is the first of the Olympic Qualifier for Rio 2016. She will now join the three top ranked US ladies and the other ladies who qualified from LOCR in competing for the right to represent USA in Rio.
Wish her luck this week!
Thank you to Mrs. Jane Miller for sharing this important information on Charlotte’s progress.
