Westside Tennis shows off their medals from the District tournament

Westside Tennis came back from the District Tournament with wins, and players advancing to the Regionals at Deer Park, which start on Monday, April 17th.

The team brought home 2nd place in district, behind strong showings from boy’s singles champion  senior Daniel Mehralizadeh and girls singles champion Jolie McAdoo.  Freshman Luke Henley finished third in boy’s singles, with Veronika Aliyeva and Jenna Sheshtawy, both juniors brought home second in girls doubles.  Westside also won runner up in mixed doubles.

According to Jolie McAdoo, the players that qualified will be leaving about 6:40 am to travel down to Deer Park on Monday to compete in the Regional tournament.  Exact match times are not known until they get there and check.  “Sometimes they start with singles, and sometimes, doubles, so you just have to be ready.”  Jolie is finishing her sophomore year hear at Westside, then she will leave to home school and concentrate on her training.  ” I can’t dedicate 6 hours on the court for training, and go to 8 hours of school.”  Her goal is play and earn a college scholarship for tennis.  She has already visited tennis powerhouse schools Pepperdine, Loyola Marymount, and UCLA. She has also competed in the famous Orange Bowl Tournament in Florida.  When asked what her strengths were, Jolie replied. “My competiveness.”
