Inertia is the High Point Team.

All the long practices and tired faces finally paid off for Inertia Dance Company,  and Inertia 2. when they  took their dances on the  floor at the HISD Dance Competition.  Held at Waltrip High School this year, the HISD contest is attended by most of the dance teams from middle and high schools in the district.  Inertia’s main rivals, Regan, Lamar, Waltrip and Bellaire were all in attendance.

Both  WHS teams brought their best to their performances, with the judges and audiences in total agreement.  Inertia was the High Point Team of the entire competition, with Kendra Fernandez earning Champion Senior Soloist honors.

In their first contest under the direction of Mr. Bryan Paule, Inertia and Inertia 2 brought dances that kept the traditional style and quality  they are known for, but with a few new twists.  Audiences first noticed the sizes of the teams.  Lamar Rangerette director Tara Williams noted “Ya’ll look big this year!”  Growing in numbers was not the only change.  Costumes were very detailed and showed dances in a more uniform and precise way.  Parents loved the new look.  “Amazing, those hip hop costumes looked awesome.”  several Inertia parents were happy to declare.

Inertia rookies really enjoyed their first Inertia experience.  “I couldn’t believe it, it was so fun”, said freshman Brenda Almanza.

Next up will be a Regional Contest at Klein Collins High School on February 27th, then both teams will be competing at the Crowd Pleasers State Competition, where they are the defending champions in their divisions.
